This really bugs me.
Trucks are good for moving things around, landing out of airplanes, and hopping curbs.
But driving behind them is bad in a 7 cause you're low, they're slow, and they've got a big ass.
Get too close and they'll even chip your windshield.
So if I can I always pass them.
Some of them can't even see you out their side mirror if they're jacked up, so it' does no good to hang out near them.
I drive an 88 FC turbo, btw. It's not as sprinty as my 81... but it's a lot smoother on the highway.
Every once in a while though- some guy in a huge black truck will waste me off the line, whether i'm trying to get in front or not from the stoplight, without hardly even trying, although I tend to hold back at lights cuz I run with a straight-pipe and I don't like to draw attention to that when cops could be around. It's loud and sounds nice like a big cat, but trying to go over even 4k rpms sounds like I paint a target on my back... so I save it for just the right time.
It feels weird seeing big trucks speed past me, when my car is an elegant tribute to sports-driving and their's is a monument to compensation.... but I want to know how it happens. Is it just that newer trucks with much bigger engines are faster despite the way they look (it was a "shiny" truck, after all) or is my car just really not running as well as it should? I know my car's louder at the same output- so sometimes it almost feels like a handicap, and maybe i'm just not letting loose enough power-- but 7s seem made for free-flowing exhaust, and I'm not even talking about speeding here- just getting up to speed faster.
